CAD/CAM Ceramics – Selection, Priming and Cementation

Lecture Description: 

The lunch and learn program reviews the selection and properties of silica-based and zirconia-based ceramics used in CAD/CAM dentistry. Criteria for priming and cementation are presented.

Objective: 

• Learn about the selection and properties of ceramics used in CAD/CAM dentistry for frameworks, copings and full-contour restorations.
• Learn criteria for the use of primers with silica-based and zirconia-based ceramics.
• Learn criteria for the use of cements with silica-based and zirconia-based ceramics.
• Learn the results of an eight-year clinical study of a self-adhesive resin cement.

About presenter: 

Dr. Powers graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in chemistry in 1967 and a Ph.D. in dental materials and mechanical engineering in 1972. Dr. Powers is Senior Editor of The Dental Advisor and Professor of Oral Biomaterials, Department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials, at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. Dr. Powers has authored more than 1000 scientific articles, abstracts, books, and chapters. He is co-author of the textbook, Dental Materials - Properties and Manipulation, and co-editor of Craig's Restorative Dental Materials and Esthetic Color Training in Dentistry.
