Challenges in the digital workflow: Minimally-invasive digital dentistry and micro precision

Lecture Description: 

In modern restorative dentistry when the digital technology and adhesive dentistry have developed, it is easy to assume that in the nearest future, the main focus of this field will be at MI esthetics combined with Digital dentistry. In addition, the use of microscope has allowed prosthodontists to obtain more precise and predictable outcomes in both traditional and digital dentistry.

Objective: 
  1. Semi-digital workflow vs. Fully digital workflow
  2. What will be the appropriate designed and location of the marginal finishing line for the marginal morphology to avoid any of the STL data edge loss?
  3. The IOS is not accurate to scan the tooth when its inter-proximal area is not wide enough. The presenter wishes to propose his guideline for the case of applying IOS for the closed contacted teeth arch. And when contacts are open, the minimum distance needed for the inter-proximal space to apply an IOS.
About presenter: 

Dr. Masayuki Okawa, DDS was born in Iwate in 1962 and he is a 1987 graduate of the Tohoku Dental University of Dentistry. Since 2001 maintains Clinic in Tokyo, Japan and serves as part-time professor at the Nippon Dental University School of Dentistry. He served as Chairman of the Board, Society of Japan Clinical Dentistry Tokyo, Board Member, Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry (USA), Academic department Director, Ohu University Faculty of Dentistry Alumni Association. He is Certified, Japan Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and Japan Academy of Gnathlogy And Occlusion, and EAEDAffiliate Member.
