Bonded Porcelain Restorations in The Anterior Dentition: an update.

Lecture Description: 

Careful approach will reveal and allow the need for selective reduction of tooth substance based on the dental technologist needs and the ultimate goal of the restoration.

Objective: 
  1. Clinicians and dental technologists should apply knowledge, wisdom and experience.
  2. Careful customized recipe that should lead to the right treatment for a specific individual.
  3. Treatment that will respect the principles of enamel preservation while delivering what was pledged to the patient through the appropriate diagnostic approach, waxup and in-vivo mock-up. 
About presenter: 

Dr. Pascal Magne is the Don and Sybil Harrington Foundation Prof. of Esthetic Dentistry in the Division of Restorative Sciences, University of Southern California, Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry. He graduated from the University of Geneva Dental School, Switzerland (1989 DMD, 1992 MSc and 2002 PhD). He was a lecturer at the same university beginning in 1989 until 1997 (fixed prosthodontics and occlusion, operative dentistry and endodontics).
From 1997-1999, he was a Visiting Associate Prof. at the Minnesota Dental Research Center for Biomaterials and Biomechanics, University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry. From 1999-2004 he was a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Fixed Prosthodontics and Occlusion at the University of Geneva Dental School until he was recruited to the University of Southern California in 2004.    
Dr. Magne is a recipient of multiple awards (Swiss Science Foundation, Swiss Foundation for Medical-Biological Grants, 2002 Young Investigator Award from the International Association for Dental Research, 2007 and 2009 Judson C. Hickey Scientific Writing Award of the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry). He is also the author of numerous articles on esthetics and adhesive dentistry and is an internationally known mentor and lecturer. Dr. Magne authored the book Bonded Porcelain Restorations in the Anterior Dentition – A Biomimetic Approach which has been translated into twelve languages.
He is a founding member of the Academy of Biomimetic Dentistry and a mentor of the Bio-Emulation think-tank group. In 2012, he launched a revolutionary approach to the teaching of Dental Morphology, Function and Esthetics (the 2D/3D/4D approach) for freshman students at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC.

Michel Magne was born in la Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland) in 1958. He grew up and followed his primary education in Neuchâtel, where he certified as Dental Technician in 1979. He developed his technical education in fixed prosthodontics (ceramics) and esthetics until today.
Between 1985 and 1991, he was consecutively directing two dental laboratories as Master Ceramist and he specialized in implant-supported work, complex oral rehabilitation and bonded porcelain restorations. In 1992 he was appointed as a Oral Design member. From 1992 to 2004, he has been the owner and director of Oral Design Center, Dental Laboratory in Montreux (Switzerland). In January 2005, he became Associate Professor of Clinical Dentistry and Director of the Center of Dental Technology at the University of Southern California (USC, Los Angeles). In 2013 Michel Magne became a Co-founder of Oral Design Los Angeles, Dental Laboratory and Dental Education Center in Beverly Hills, CA USA.
He is visiting Faculty on several Universities and leading teaching Academies worldwide as well as he is in charge of numbers of esthetic courses and postgraduate education. He is author and co-author of articles on esthetic dentistry and is worldwide frequently invited to lecture and teach on these topics.
